MCM purchases Triple Eight Camaro

BROC Feeney’s 2023 race-winning Camaro will officially return to the grid at the upcoming Repco Supercars Championship enduros, in new hands.

Chassis 888A-057 now belongs to Matt Chahda Motorsport, which is fielding a main game wildcard at this year’s Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000.

MCM and driver Matt Chahda sampled the car in May at Queensland Raceway and have now completed a deal to purchase it, team owner Amin Chahda confirmed to V8 Sleuth.

A co-driver is yet to be announced for the program, but MCM has committed to blooding a young gun from Super2.

As was the case at the 2022 Bathurst 1000 when Chahda Jr combined with Jaylyn Robotham, they’ll don the #118.

Chahda Sr is “rapt” with his new Gen3 Camaro and heaped praise upon Triple Eight.

“The team are unbelievably professional,” he said. “Like I knew they’re professional, but they are unbelievably professional. It’s a different level.”

The fact they’ve purchased the car, instead of leasing it, indicates there’s more on the horizon too.

“We do have some plans, some aspirations,” Chahda said of beyond 2024.

“So provided Supercars are onboard and they let us continue on with the program we want to do, we’ll see how we go.

“I think we have proven that we can do it and what we’re capable of as a little privateer team.”
