Brown test laps a ‘sanity check’ for PremiAir

TRIPLE Eight star Will Brown has turned laps with PremiAir Racing at a mid-season test today at Ipswich.

Brown is primarily at Queensland Raceway to steer a Red Bull Ampol Camaro for category testing purposes, but ventured down to the other end of the pitlane this morning to hop in the #23 Nulon Camaro.

“Part of the technical relationship we have with Triple Eight is that we can call on resources like that, which is great,” PremiAir team manager Stephen Robertson told V8 Sleuth.

“I mean, to have the ability to have the guy who is leading the championship jump in the car and to get his feedback, (whether) it’s reacting the same way his car does, that gives us a really good basis for us to keep moving forward.

“It’s not about driver to driver, this is about car to car. We do it every now and then just for a sanity check.”

Veteran David Russell is also testing with PremiAir, having signed on as James Golding’s co-driver after last year partnering champion Brodie Kostecki in the enduros.

“It’s really to get an impression of how the car feels compared to what he’s used to, whether there’s any benefit in going in that direction or staying where we are,” Robertson explained.

“And then really validating that him and Jimmy are getting the same feeling in the car so when it comes to the enduros, they are both talking the same language and it makes it a lot easier.”

Super2 young gun Cameron McLeod is in the PremiAir camp at QR, but is unlikely to be granted seat time today.

“Unfortunately we have got such a busy schedule, we didn’t really have time to fit him in. But Cameron is part of the family so he is here to see how we work and pick up as much information as he can,” said Robertson.
