Wood penalty hands teen Albert Park victory

MARCOS Flack has tasted victory in just his sixth race at Porsche Carrera Cup Australia level.

Driving the #777 Sonic Motor Racing Services entry, Flack crossed the line second in last night’s Race 3, behind veteran Dale Wood.

However, Wood has since been demoted to sixth by virtue of a five-second penalty being applied today, relating to contact with Harri Jones.

That has in turn promoted Flack to a maiden win.

Other beneficiaries included Jackson Walls, Jones, David Russell and Ryder Quinn, who are now classified second through fifth.

It was a dramatic third and final leg of the Carrera Cup season-opener, which began with a massive lock-up for Jones’ Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport teammate Fabian Coulthard at the first corner.

Coulthard was one of five non-finishers in the 12-lapper.

In the overall standings, Jones leads by 35 points from Wood, with Flack third.

The latter’s uncle, Adrian Flack, was the Pro-Am round winner.
