TICKFORD Racing is starting to see the benefits of hiring a CEO from outside the motorsport world, star driver Cam Waters has indicated.
After 19 years with ex-Jordan Formula 1 team manager Tim Edwards at the helm, Tickford went in a new direction for 2024 by hiring Simon Brookhouse.
Brookhouse is an experienced sports administrator across stints in basketball and golf and has a long-held passion for motorsport, but had never before worked in the industry.
Bringing a fresh perspective, Brookhouse’s remit was to take a holistic approach, while the likes of team manager Matt Roberts and technical director Brad Wischusen were entrusted to step up in overseeing on-track performance.
“Simon has come on deck and has been great,” Waters told V8 Sleuth last month.
“He is probably finding his feet a little bit still, like it’s very different to where he has been.
“He has got different views and ideas on a lot of things, which is great.
“I think as he goes on, you’ll see more of them coming to life.”
Waters heads to Round 4 of the Repco Supercars Championship next week at Wanneroo Raceway on the back of a steady run to 19th in the recent NASCAR Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway.
