Teen scores Supercars laps with Chahdas

MATT Chahda Motorsport has handed teen talent Blake Tracey a Supercars testing opportunity today at Winton Motor Raceway.

Tracey, 16, will be granted laps in MCM’s Holden ZB Commodore which Matt Chahda races in the Dunlop Super2 Series. Chahda is also driving today.

“He’s racing in the national Excel series at the moment and doing an amazing job,” MCM boss Amin Chahda told V8 Sleuth of Tracey.

“He has actually just come back from Sydney last night, he’s here testing today, and they leave for Queensland tomorrow for the next round, so he has got a fair bit going on.

“He’s a local kid based in Albury so to me, it hits the heartstrings there because my boys are all born and raised in Albury.

“We want to give him a go.”

The Chahdas have regularly voiced their commitment to giving young guns a crack; they’re set to call up a Super2 steerer to co-drive their 2024 main game enduro wildcard at Sandown and Bathurst.

Tracey is not a contender for that gig, but could be an option to fill in for Chahda at the corresponding Super2 rounds.

Given that he is not in the championship hunt this year, Chahda Jr has indicated he may step aside for the Sandown and Bathurst Super2 rounds to focus on his Gen3 wildcard program.

Tracey’s father Mark made seven race starts in the V8 Touring Cars/Super3 across 2018-2020, driving an ex-Jason Bright Falcon.
