PETER BROCK HEADLINES SHANNONS LEGENDS OF MOTORSPORT SERIES FINAL
Published 18 November 2014
Bathurst legend in focus including rare, unearthed black and white footage
SHANNONS Legends of Motorsport comes to an end for 2014 this Saturday November 22 on 7mate with a special feature on the biggest name in Australian motorsport – Peter Brock.
The nine-time Bathurst winner and Hall of Famer sadly was killed in 2006 but his name looms large over the sport in this country and the Shannons LOM team will take viewers on a ride back down memory lane.
While the sheer volume of material produced on Brock over the last few decades is indeed extreme, host Neil Crompton, co-host Aaron Noonan and reporter Mark Oastler have unearthed all sorts of vision from the Seven Sport vault for the series final.
There’s a beautiful blend of often-played favourites from his career as well as some real gems, dusted off from deep within the archive – including an ultra-rare black and white interview recorded in 1973 at Sandown.

No episode on Brock would be complete without some special guests and this weekend’s episode is no different.
His former loyal Holden Dealer Team lieutenant John Harvey joins host Neil Crompton for a drive down memory lane in the 12th and final episode of the series as well as Jim Richards – who shared three Bathurst wins with Brock in 1978, 1979 and 1980.
Current V8 Supercar team owner and former Brock teammate Brad Jones and the ‘King’s’ former PR man Tim Pemberton also stop by to share some Brock stories – including one that saw the Bathurst legend race against a mobile Vita-Brit!
Mark Oastler will take an up close look at the Holden Torana XU-1 that Brock and Doug Chivas famously drove to second place in the 1973 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 at Bathurst – yep, the very car that ran out of fuel while leading that the late Chivas was forced to push up pit lane!
The final episode in a 12-part series celebrating Australian motorsport was filmed in front of a live audience at Shannons Auction Centre in Melbourne.
The Brock programs airs at 4.30pm nationally on 7mate on Saturday November 22.
It will be preceded from 1.30pm to 4.30pm by the three previous episodes of the series – a perfect way to catch up on them if you have missed them!
They focus on the 1987 Australian touring car season, Mark Skaife and Colin Bond.
Every episode of the Shannons Legends of Motorsport is also available to watch on the Shannons Club website after it first airs on 7mate.
