Joins Dumbrell and Jacobson in 2014 Dunlop Series squad
NEW Zealander Ant Pedersen has signed with Eggleston Motorsport for the 2014 Dunlop Series.
Last season's NZ V8 SuperTourer Series runner-up joins former Bathurst winner Paul Dumbrell and second-year V8 driver Garry Jacobson in the team's three-car line-up for this year's Dunlop Series.
Pedersen, 25, hails from Hamilton in New Zealand though is no stranger to racing in the Dunlop Series or in Australia.
He competed in the first three rounds of the Dunlop Series in 2010 (including a podium finish in the opening round in Adelaide) and made a one-off start for Eggleston Motorsport last year at Winton.
He also competed in the Bathurst round of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia in 2012 and was a wildcard entrant in the Phillip Island and Bathurst V8 Supercar endurance races in 2010.
Pedersen joins Eggelston Motorsport full-time after a season-long tussle with Greg Murphy in the 2013 NZ V8 SuperTourer Series where he took four race wins, two pole positions and 11 podium finishes.
"I'm extremely excited to be racing in the Dunlop Series and I don't underestimate the challenge in front of me this season but the infrastructure and resources available through EMS will give me the best possible chance with what is my first full season racing in Australia," says Pedersen.
"I ran with Eggleston Motorsport last year at the Winton round and was impressed by the teams professionalism and supportive atmosphere so to be able to do a deal to run with them for the full DVS season is fantastic.
"I performed well in my first ever outing at the Clipsal 500 back in 2010 so I hope I can go one better, I can't wait to get the season started!"
Pedersen will drive the car used by Daniel Gaunt last season, which was raced by Michael Patrizi for Tekno Autosports in the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship and prior to that by Russell Ingall and Steve Owen for Paul Morris Motorsports.
Eggelston Motorsport Team Manager Rachael Wagg says that Pedersen's signing gives the team a nice blend of speed, experience and maturity.
"Ant is a driver that has always been at the top of our list so we are very excited that he will be driving with us for the full season," says Wagg.
"He is extremely talented and has showed this with his long list of race wins and podiums in New Zealand in various categories.
"To progress in the V8 Supercar ranks Ant needs to be racing in the Dunlop Series with a top level team that has strong alliances with a very successful main series team ? and that's what we have with Triple Eight.
"Ant is one of the nicest guys you will meet and very much a team player so we are thrilled to have someone like him join our tight knit group.
"We are very confident Ant will open some eyes in 2014 and cannot wait to help him develop as a driver and see him on the podium."
Pedersen will drive the #38 Eggleston Motorsport Commodore with Jacobson in #54 and Dumbrell to drive #88.
The 2014 Dunlop Series will begin at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide next week from February 27 to March 2.
