BATHURST WINNER CHANGES HANDS

A Bathurst-winning chassis has changed hands ...

EGGLESTON Motorsport has confirmed its plans to run three cars in the 2014 Dunlop Series to the V8 Sleuth with the purchase of the 2010 Bathurst-winning Commodore from Red Bull Racing Australia.

The car, driven in this year?s Dunlop Series by former MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner, won the 2010 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in the hands of Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife.

It holds a special place in history as the fastest V8 Supercar to lap the famous Mount Panorama circuit at that same event ? Lowndes recorded a 2m06.8012s during Friday practice in the car.

The chassis also won the 2010 and 2011 Phillip Island 500s in the hands of Lowndes and Skaife as well as finishing a close second in the 2011 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

It joins the two existing Triple Eight-built Commodore VE IIs that have been run in the Dunlop Series this year by the Eggleston team from their Melbourne base.

?We are going out to win the Dunlop Series in 2014 and want to be the benchmark team in the category,? says Team Manager Rachael Wagg.

?We?ve secured two very good cars for the V8 Touring Car Series as a launch pad for the Dunlop Series and now securing this car from Triple Eight is the next step for our program.

?We?ve been able to get some runs on the board this year with plenty of podium finishes in the Dunlop Series and prove our capabilities. Next season is all about building on that.?

The team claimed victory at this year?s Queensland Raceway round of the Dunlop Series with Jack Perkins driving.

Kiwis Daniel Gaunt and Ant Pedersen have also driven for the team this season.

The team will take delivery of the ex-Stoner, 2010 Bathurst-winning Commodore early next year after it undergoes a refresh at the team?s Brisbane base.

The team will look to announce its driver line-up for the 2014 Dunlop Series prior to a pre-Christmas test day.

Eggleston Motorsport will also make a further announcement in the near future regarding the recruitment of additional engineering personnel for next season.

The 2014 Dunlop Series will commence at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in February next year.
