MSR to run Kiwi colours at Taupō

MATT Stone Racing has revealed a new look for Cameron Hill’s #4 Chevrolet Camaro ahead of the ITM Taupō Super400.

Hill’s entry, which featured the blue hues of Tyrepower at the opening two rounds, will have primary backing from Supaglass in New Zealand.

The team describes the livery as “a nod to the official colours of New Zealand and the Stone family’s Kiwi background”.

Supaglass is based in Hill’s native Canberra and ordinarily features on the bonnet of Hill and teammate Nick Percat’s cars.

“It’s fantastic to be going back across the ditch and bringing Supercars racing back to the Kiwi fans,” said team owner Matt Stone.

“Cam has had a speedy start to the year, so we’re aiming to keep that momentum up heading into Taupo and hopefully have both cars up there fighting at the front and adding to the race win tally.”

This year will mark second-year Supercars driver Hill’s maiden championship outing in NZ, as the category tackles the Taupō circuit for the first time.

“From the preparation we have done, it is a very technical track with tight corners and mixed surfaces, so it will be interesting to see how the races play out with tyre degradation and all the unknowns,” noted Hill.

“The car is going to look great on track, so hopefully we can bring home some great results in front of the Kiwi fans.”

Hill sits 19th in the championship after six races, having started the campaign with a career-best fifth place in the Saturday race at the Bathurst 500.

Teammate Percat is fourth after sensationally winning the Sunday race at Albert Park in Melbourne.
