Historic ‘enduro’ to feature at Winton Festival of Speed

THIS year’s Winton Festival of Speed on August 2-4 is set to feature the eighth running of the 50K Just Cars Historic Touring Car Cup.

Firmly established as the premier ‘enduro’ event for the category, it’s set to be the feature race of the Victorian Historic Racing Register’s Winton event.

The Winton Festival of Speed – including the 50K Cup – will be live streamed via V8 Sleuth’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel with coverage on Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4.

Last year’s 50K Cup was won by Mustang ace Jamie Tilley clear of Torana pilot Andrew Williams and Camaro racer Adrian Moyle.

Run for Group N touring cars, it’s again expected to feature a bumper field.

Last year’s event attracted 40 entries for the race, which caters for cars from 1953 to pre-1973 and includes everything from Mustangs, Toranas and Camaros to Minis, Cortinas, Datsun 1600s, Capris, Jaguars and ‘humpy’ Holdens.

The Group N touring cars will be joined at the Winton Festival of Speed by Group A and C Heritage Touring Cars, tribute touring cars, HQ Holdens, Alfa racing, Group S sportscars, Formula Vee and Formula Ford.

The event will also feature a grand parade of show cars on track both days including a special celebration of the 60th anniversary of Ford Mustang.

Tickets will be available at the gate with further information here on the VHRR website.
