Feeney turned to Dane amid mini-slump

BROC Feeney turned to Triple Eight founder Roland Dane to help get his Supercars title shot back on track.

The third-year Triple Eight driver did just that in Darwin, scoring both race wins to gnaw into teammate Will Brown’s championship lead.

Feeney had repeatedly spoken of how his previous couple of rounds, Perth especially, had not been up to his standards.

He turned the tables in style at Hidden Valley, where he’d also tasted success 12 months ago.

“That’s a feeling I’ve been missing the last few rounds,” Feeney beamed after winning Race 2.

“Man, it’s so good.”

Asked what had changed to find himself back in form, Feeney responded: “I’ve been working my arse off all year. It certainly hasn’t been because of a lack of trying.

“Just understanding the things that went wrong, my training and everything, and I had a few big chats.

“I sat down with RD (Roland Dane) a few weeks ago and just spoke through everything of what we need to work on.

“I just feel like I have got my mojo back, a bit of a pep in my step this weekend.

“I feel excited, I’m pumped, I’m having fun and the results are coming with it. To execute qualifyings and the races here is unreal.

“Two wins, I haven’t done that before… I’m absolutely chuffed.”

Feeney had never before won back-to-back Supercars Championship races.

He’s 108 points behind Brown as the category heads to Townsville next for Round 6 of 12.
