‘Common theme’ Slade wants to rectify

THERE is an emerging trend which Tim Slade is well aware needs fixing.

The 38-year-old is showing stacks of pace, as evidenced by qualifying top 10 for each of the past six races.

The problem? He has gone backwards in race trim on every occasion (one instance being a first-lap DNF at Taupō).

“You definitely want to be moving forwards in the race not backwards which has been a bit of a common theme, so we have a bit of homework to do back in the workshop,” Slade said at the close of play in Darwin.

After making both Top 10 Shootouts at the Darwin Triple Crown, Slade walked away with race results of 12th and 13th.

Enough to cap a good weekend for PremiAir Racing, with James Golding taking a pair of fourth-place finishes, but not enough to satisfy two-time Supercars race winner Slade.

“There were some difficulties in the pitstop which cost a little bit for Tim for position which meant he had to fight a bit too hard,” said PremiAir competition director and Car #23 race engineer Ludo Lacroix.

“Tim unfortunately got caught in a couple of battles and together with the slow pitstop it pushed us to end up P13, but we should have been in the top 10,” the Frenchman later added.
