About the V8 Sleuth
V8 Sleuth

Put simply, V8 Sleuth is all about tracing, tracking, recording and archiving motorsport history of all kinds – with a primary focus on the histories of individual racing cars.

It originally began as a detailed chassis record database of all V8 Supercars to have competed in the main championship, the Dunlop Series and the spin-off Kumho V8 Touring Car Series.

With a pile of car and history information swirling around as a young cadet journalist at Motorsport News magazine, Aaron Noonan decided to keep track of all of the cars as not much more than a hobby and personal interest.

In time, this information expanded and more and more media material – feature stories, news updates etc - was created from it as the V8 Supercar category continued to grow.

The information has been used in a range of different media outlets and it wasn't until 2010 that turning all of this information into a useable resource became a reality.

Noonan became the News Editor of the official V8 Supercars website in 2011 and his regular 'Saturday Sleuthing' stories focusing on the histories of famous cars drew strong interest and became – and remain - a popular 'must-read' feature of the site.

The V8 Sleuth brand and dedicated website was born later than season in association with the team at Pixelrock.

It involves subscription access to car collectors, prospective buyers, restorers and researchers and is supplemented by a range of free content in other sections of the site as well as free social media content on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

As of mid-2016 the subscription website features approximately 400 V8 Supercars individual histories tracked and traced with photos, videos and a wide range of historical information relating to all of them.

In mid-2016 it was announced that the site will expand to also include Group A, Group C and Super Touring cars that all contributed to the rich history of 'tin top' racing in this part of the world. These cars will be added over upcoming weeks and months to bolster the site's content to unprecedented levels.

The V8 Sleuth website is endorsed by a range of current and former racing teams and has quickly become an industry leader in Australia for this style of content.

The V8 Sleuth team is headed by Aaron Noonan, an Australian motorsport industry veteran of nearly two decades in a wide range of roles.

A contributor in print media, public relations and television since 1997, Noonan started as a cadet journalist and Assistant Editor at Australian Motorsport News before acting as PR/Media Manager for the Porsche Carrera Cup and Holden Motorsport, including time with the Holden Racing Team and Kmart Racing.

Joining V8 Supercar Television and the Seven Network in 2007, Noonan hosted, commentated, pit lane reported and acted as a colour reporter in a range of live and post-produced telecasts through to the end of 2014.

He was co-host and chief researcher of the popular Shannons Legends of Motorsport Series on 7mate in 2014 and 2015 and has appeared in a range of other programming on Fox Sports and its SPEED channel.

He now has a range of clients in the Australian motorsport industry with a specialty in quality content generation for print, online and television as well as his AN1 Data service being the industry-leading statistician service for pit lane.
